WICHITA -- More than 1,400 students completed their degrees at Wichita State University in spring 2008.
Undergraduate students who have attained a grade-point average of 3.9 out of a possible 4.0 received the summa cum laude award; those with an average of 3.55 received the magna cum laude award; and those with an average of 3.25 received the cum laude.
Students receiving degrees are listed by hometown.

WICHITA -- Wichita State University has announced the names of about 1,900 students who were on the WSU dean's honor roll for spring 2008.
To be included on the dean's honor roll, a student must be enrolled full time (at least 12 credit hours) and earn at least a 3.5 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. For a complete list of honor students go to www.wichita.edu/deanhnr.
WSU enrolls more than 14,000 students and offers more than 60 undergraduate degree programs in more than 150 areas of study in six undergraduate colleges.

Benjamin Schmeidler, Victoria, graduated from Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, Curtis, Neb., with an associate of applied science degree in agriculture production systems.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Denise Jean Gibbens, daughter of Denzel and Sara Gibbens, Tonganoxie, was one of 25 students who received the master of science degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Biosciences during commencement ceremonies July 29.
Gibbens graduated from Tonganoxie High School and earned a bachelor of arts in chemistry and bachelor of science in biology from Fort Hays State University.
Gibbens plans to pursue a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.

Kathryn Unruh, daughter of Stan Unruh, Hays, has received a $4,000 scholarship from the National Association for the Self-Employed to help defray the costs of attending the University of Kansas this fall. Unruh received one of 20 scholarships worth $4,000 each that the NASE awarded this year as part of its scholarship program. Unruh is a graduate of Hays High School.

Heather Banda of Goodland is among some 284 undergraduate students at the University of Iowa named to the president's list for the 2008 spring semester. The president's list was established in the fall of 1983 to recognize academic excellence. In order to be included on the list, a student must have a minimum 4.0 grade-point average in all academic subjects for the preceding two semesters, with a total of at least 12 semester hours of credit per semester during that period.
