Quinter native receives doctorate in Colorado

Susan J. Jones graduated May 24 from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.

She completed a doctorate through a leadership program in the School of Education from UCCS. In the program, she explored three areas of research that involve correctional staff and the correctional culture: minimum educational requirements for correctional officers, the impact of the censorship policy upon correctional employees, and boundary violations between staff and inmates.

She completed her dissertation after her retirement from the state of Colorado. She had worked in corrections in Colorado for 31 years.

She is the daughter of Gene Tilton and the granddaughter of Helen Tilton, Quinter.
