Fifty-six students from a pool of 125 applicants have been selected to serve as Fort Hays State University orientation assistants for the 2013 spring and fall semesters.

These students will help freshmen and transfer students and their parents and families become familiar with the campus and its resources. They also help create a fun and welcoming atmosphere for new students, assist in the enrollment process and answer questions.

OAs will staff Tiger pre-enrollment sessions for freshmen and transfer students during the spring as well as in Tiger Impact Orientation events, including New Student Orientation in August.

Students are listed by hometown with their majors and classifications.

Colby: Bailey Koerperich, communication studies, sophomore; Jordan Krzycki, psychology, senior.

Gaylord: Michaela Sasse, speech-language pathology, sophomore.

Grainfield: Trisha Goetz, business administration, graduate student.

Hays: Megan Draper, social work, sophomore; Shelby Gottschalk, elementary education, senior; Jayme Hansen, mathematics, senior; Trevor Henningsen, organizational leadership, sophomore; Rocio Ramos, tourism and hospitality management, junior.

Selden: Isaac Broeckelman, health and human performance, junior.

Victoria: Cody Scheck, accounting, sophomore.

Requirements to become an OA include having a department or faculty recommendation and a minimum 2.5 GPA. Applicants must have attended at least two consecutive semesters on the FHSU campus, including the spring 2012 semester. They must be returning students who have demonstrated good academic ability, communication skills and interest in working with new students.

The assistants must attend two training sessions, work the four Tiger freshman pre-enrollment sessions in the spring and New Student Orientation activities in August.
