WICHITA — The Hays High School boys’ soccer team grabbed its first win of the season Thursday, defeating Wichita Classical School 5-0.

The Indians outshot WC 16-4 in recording the shutout.

Zach Wagner recorded the hat trick in the first half. He scored unassisted in the eighth minute, then on an assist from Trae McCrae in the 35th. The final goal of the half came from Wagner on the assist from Ethan Nunnery in the 38th.

Nunnery then put on the finishing touches in the second half, scoring in the 60th and 90th, both on assists from Wagner. The two goals tied the Hays High all-time scoring record, tying current head coach Silas Hibbs’ record.

The Indians (1-1) are off until Monday when they begin play in the Wichita South Invitational.
