Julia Werth and Emily Schippers paced the Thomas More Prep-Marian girls’ cross country team to a first-place finish in the combined standings at Saturday’s seventh annual TMP Monarch Invitational at the TMP course.
Werth finished third in the junior/senior race in 22 minutes, 8.9 seconds, while Schippers was right behind in fourth in 22:12.80.
Kiara Urban helped in the team standings with an eighth-place finish in 23:31.60, while Emily Shulte (23:55) and Cheyenne Rhodes (24:04.60) were ninth and 10th, respectively.
Ness City’s Savannah Moore won the race in 21:18.50, besting the second-place finisher by 41 seconds.
In the freshmen/sophomore girls’ race, TMP’s Adell Riedel was fifth in 23:14.40, and Kyleigh Allen was ninth in 23:48.80. Makinsey Schlautman was 10th in 24:32.60.
Lakin’s Sara White won the race in 21:52.90.
In the boys’ junior/senior race, TMP’s Jared Mayers was the top Monarch finisher in 10th in 19:25.60. Paul Brull was 14th in 19:41.50.
Thaddeus Friess of Christian Family won the race going away in 17:41.60, while Larned’s Kristopher Nolde was second (18:22.10).
St. John’s A.J. Miller won the freshman/sophomore race in 17:51.50, followed by Cimarron’s Damion Santisteven in 18:20.80.
The TMP girls combined for 23 points, two better than Lakin’s 25. Cimarron was third (31).
St. John won the boys’ combined title with 16 points, followed by Trinity with 31 and Larned with 53.
