CLAREMORE, Okla. — The Fort Hays State University men’s soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision Saturday to No. 6 ranked Midwestern State.

The teams were scoreless at intermission before Midwestern State put up the first goal, then quickly posted two more to lead 3-0 by the 80th minute.

Derick Gonzalez scored for FHSU from 20 yards out in the 83rd minute to narrow the gap.

Midwestern State, though, had a quick answer, to set the final margin.

FHSU fell to 0-3-1, despite owning the advantage with 14 shots. FHSU also took four more corner kicks than Midwestern State. FHSU is back in action this week with matches in Washington state Thursday and Saturday against Seattle Pacific and Western Washington.
