COLORADO SPRINGS — The Fort Hays State University tennis team opened its 2017-18 season with a 5-4 win Saturday at Colorado College. The match came down to a three-set win by Lauren Lindell after FHSU rallied from a 2-1- deficit in doubles play.

Ellea Ediger and Macy Moyers took the Tigers’ win in doubles action, 9-7.

Ediger also grabbed a win at No. 6 singles.

In other doubles action, the No. 1 team of Natalie Lubbers and Lindell fell 8-5 and Nicole Lubbers and Laura Jimenez-Lendinez fell 9-8.

FHSU then took four of the six singles matches. Jimenez-Lendinez won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2, while Moyers and Ediger won at No. 4 and No. 6.

At No. 5, Niclole Lubers fell 6-3, 6-2. Natalie Lubbers, at No. 1 singles, fell in a third-set tiebreaker, 10-8. Lindell won in 10-8 in a tiebreak.

FHSU is back in action Thursday and Saturday in Pueblo, Colo., as the Tigers will play three matches.
