GARDEN CITY — Now four tournaments in, and four wins for Hays High School’s Karee Dinkel.

The senior led the Indians Monday to a second-place finish in the Garden City Invitational at Buffalo Dunes.

On the Par 72, Dinkel fired a 3-over 75 to take top honors by 15 strokes, further extending her lead in the Western Athletic Conference.

The Indians shot a 388 as a team, four shots back of team champion and host Garden City. All five WAC schools competed in the event with Great Bend third at 429, Dodge City at 459 and Liberal at 469.

The Indians also had a pair of other top 10 finishes as Emily McGuire shot a 102 to finish eight and Brittani Park a 103 in ninth.

Emily George rounded the team scoring for Hays High with a 108. Sophia Garrison (115) and Molly Eikenberry (121) also competed.

Dinkel leads the WAC race by 3.5 points over Garden City’s Alyssa McMillen with two meets to go in the conference race. Hays High, despite the second-place showing leads the WAC race by nine strokes over Garden City.

The Indians are off until Monday when they travel to Salina for a 1 p.m. start, hosted by Salina South.
