Goddard (2-0) at Andover (1-1)

Goddard shocked the football world of south-central Kansas last week with a 50-20 win over Derby, while Andover fell to Kapaun-Mt. Carmel 21-0.

Goddard snapped Derby’s 24-game winning streak. Goddard also goes to the top of the Class 5A West District standings, tied with Kapaun-Mt. Carmel. Andover is ninth in the 16-team standings, third among 1-1 teams.

Goddard’s Blake Sullivan has hit 21 of 35 passes for 355 yards with six touchdowns and no interceptions. Sullivan also has 295 yards rushing with five touchdowns. Darius Russell has 46 carries for 206 yards and two touchdowns. Zack True has six catches for 175 yards and four touchdowns. Owen Beason has 12 catches for 152 yards. Justin Amaro has 21 total tackles. The Goddard defense has three interceptions and forced two fumbles.

Andover’s Eli Fahnestock has hit 26 of 50 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns. Chase Gumeringer has 15 carries for 102 yards. Luke Windish has four catches for 64 yards and two touchdowns.

Arkansas City (1-1) at Valley Center (2-0)

Valley Center stayed unbeaten with a 21-20 win over Campus last week. Arkansas City edged Salina Central 24-21.

Valley Center is sixth in the district, while Arkansas City is 10th.

Valley Center’s Parker Schrater has hit 13 of 21 passes for 183 yards with three touchdowns. Larry Wilson has 30 carries for 83 yards. Wilson has five catches for 78 yards and two touchdowns. Valley Center has just 116 yards rushing in two games with no touchdowns on the ground. Tyler Boone has 25 total tackles.

For Arkansas City, Tyree Watkins has 42 carries for 286 yards and four touchdowns. Cevin Clark has hit 16 of 30 passes for 207 yards with five interceptions and two touchdowns. Hunter O’Toole has five catches for 74 yards and a touchdown. Blake Watkins has 22 total tackles.
