ADA, Okla. — Fort Hays State University interim head volleyball coach Brandi Fairbank got her first win in the team’s first try under her leadership Thursday against East Central.

The Tigers won the match in straight sets to reach 5-5 for the season. FHSU won 25-19, 25-21, 25-16.

Earlier in the day, coach Kurt Kohler announced his resignation from the team to take an athletic director position at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Neb.

Magan Alexander finished with 12 kills, matching a career high, in the victory. Kylie Rollman had 10 kills and two blocks, while Kailey Klibbe had three aces and eight digs.

Fort Hays will play Friday in Bethany, Okla., in the MIAA-GAC Crossover. The Tigers play Southwest Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma.
