The Fort Hays State University volleyball team took visiting Emporia State to four matches in the Tigers’ home opener on Friday, but couldn’t get over the hump.

FHSU fell 23-25, 25-16, 13-25, 25-23 to fall to 8-7 overall and 0-1 in the MIAA, also being both team’s MIAA opener.

The teams combined for 27 blocks in the contest with Emporia State having 14 team blocks. Three Tigers reached double figures in kills, led by Kylie Rollman’s 12, then 10 each from Callie Christensen and Magan Alexander.

Taylor White had 19 digs to go along with three assists. Abbie Hayes also chipped in 10 digs.

Amirah Bentley collected 39 assists in the match, while Christensen had a match-high six blocks. Tatum Bartels added five block assists.

FHSU was set to face No. 25 ranked Washburn on Saturday night at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
