HUTCHINSON — The Hays High School girls’ golf team was fourth Thursday in the Hutchinson Invitational at Carey Park Golf Course.

The Indians — on the Par 71 — finished with a 362, 22 shots back of first place Wichita-Trinity.

Karee Dinkel paced Hays High with a 75, good enough for third place, while Emily McGuire also medaled in 11th with an 87.

Dinkel was three shots back of individual champion Hannah Hawks of Trinity, which also had second place in a 74 from Madison Slayton.

Brittani Park (98) and Emily George (102) also figured into the Indians’ team score, while Sophia Garrison (107) and Molly Eikenberry (117) rounded out the Indians’ day.

WAC member Garden City was seventh with a 369 and Great Bend was 10th (380), with Dodge City 13th at 419.

Hays High will finish the WAC schedule with a Tuesday tourney at Great Bend, before hosting the Class 4A regional Oct. 9 at Smoky Hill Country Club. Orginally, Hays High was scheduled to go to Colby for the regional, but with Colby moving to 3A with the new enrollment numbers, Hays was picked to host.
