The Hays High School volleyball team went 5-0 Saturday in the Great Bend Tournament, winning three matches in two sets. The Indians’ Tasiah Nunnery also was named the tournament’s MVP, voted on by all the coaches.

The Indians picked up a 23-25, 25-22, 26-24 win against Hutchinson, led by 12 kills for Tasiah Nunnery and 11 assists from Hannah McGuire. Kallie Leiker picked up 22 digs and Jayce Dale 12 block assists.

Next, HHS picked up a 25-15, 25-18 win against St. John. Nunnery had six kills to lead the way with Brooklyn Schaffer recording 11 digs.

Against Salina Central, a 25-18, 25-22 win, Dale led the way with nine kills, while Nunnery had 12 assists. Schaffer had 10 digs, while Macee Altman finished with four solo and two block assists.

The Indians’ other match to go three sets, HHS defeated Phillipsburg, 24-26, 27-25, 25-11. Nunnery had 14 kills and four solo blocks with McGuire collecting 22 assists. Schaffer had 17 digs and Altman five block assists.

Finally, the Indians took out Great Bend 25-22, 25-19. Dale led the way with seven kills and six block assists, and Nunnery had eight assists and four solo blocks. Schaffer had 14 digs.
