ST. PAUL — There will be a new champion in Eight-Man Division I this season.
The defending champion Osborne Bulldogs fell short of St Paul after holding a 24-8 lead in the third quarter.
St. Paul, though, scored the final 27 points to take a 35-24 victory. Osborne took advantage of two St. Paul turnovers to take a 24-8 lead, the Bulldogs’ last score being a Darnell Holloway touchdown pass to Denton Schurr.
St. Paul took the lead for good midway through the fourth quarter, then added a field goal to set the final margin.
Osborne ended its season at 9-2, while St. Paul (10-1) will play host to unbeaten Burlingame in the sub-state title round. The winner will face either Spearville or Hoxie for the Eight-Man Division I state championship Nov. 25 in Newton.
