Rebounding from back-to-back losses to open the year, the Thomas More Prep-Marian boys’ basketball team bounced back with a 94-48 shellacking of Life Prep on Saturday in the seventh-place game of the Gerald Mitchell Hays City Shootout.

Creighton Renz scored a game-high 20 points to lead five Monarchs in double figures as TMP moved to 1-2. The Monarchs used a pair of big runs in the first half to put the game out of reach early, leading 26-10 after the first quarter and 52-23 at halftime.

Michael Lager added 16 points for TMP, while Trenton Mayo (15), Luke Ruder (14) and David McFarland (13) also scored in double figures.

TMP is off until Friday when it plays host to MCL foe Hill City at Al Billinger Fieldhouse.
