McPHERSON — The Hays High School girls’ basketball team suffered its fourth loss in a row Saturday in the seventh-place game of the Mid-America Classic in McPherson.

Despite a season-high 20 points from sophomore Isabel Robben, the Indians dropped the game 53-49 to Shawnee Mission-South.

Hays High (8-5) trailed 8-5 after the first quarter and 27-26 at halftime.

But the Raiders outscored the Indians 14-11 in the third quarter. Both teams accounted for 12 points in the final eight minutes.

Junior Mattie Hutchison also scored in double figures for Hays High, notching 10 points.

The Indians shot 33 percent from the field for the game and 27 percent from 3-point range.

Shawnee Mission-South was paced by 21 points from Robyn MacDonald and 19 from Karoline Shelton.

Hays High will look to snap the losing skid with a home game Tuesday against Salina South.
