The Hays High School wrestling team will send three to this weekend’s Class 4A state championship tournament at Salina’s Tony’s Pizza Events Center.

Jordan Zimmerman, 106 pounds, Kreighton Meyers (160) and Logan Schulte (285) will represent the Indians in this year’s field. First-round matches begin at 10 a.m. Friday, with opening ceremonies scheduled for 9:45 a.m.

Zimmerman, a sophomore, is 25-13 and takes on Bonner Springs freshman Cruz Lara (33-5) in the first round. Lara is one of the top seeds in the tournament and is ranked No. 2 at 106 pounds.

Meyers, a junior, is 33-9 and making his first trip to the finale. He will take on Burlington junior Brett Bober (38-5) in the first round. Bober is ranked No. 4 in the weight class.

Schulte carries a 31-11 mark in his junior campaign. He will take on Ark City junior Terrell Morris (19-19) in Friday’s first round.

All three Indian qualifiers are making their first trip to the 4A state finale.
