MANHATTAN — After an overtime win in the first round of the Class 2A state tournament in Manhattan, the Hill City High School girls’ basketball team saw its struggles continue against another quality opponent Saturday in the third-place game at Bramlage Coliseum.

The Ringnecks shot 33 percent from the field compared to 51 percent by the Eagles in a 69-44 loss.

Olpe (24-1) led 16-10 at the end of the first quarter before blowing the game open in the second quarter. The Eagles outscored Hill City 22-9 to lead 38-19 at halftime.

Hill City (21-5) pulled to within 54-39 at the end of the third quarter, but Olpe outscored the Ringnecks by 10 in the final eight minutes.

Senior Brianna Vogts put up a monster double-double for Olpe, scoring 31 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. She was one of four Eagles in double figures.

Senior Carrie Kennedy led Hill City with 12 points and four rebounds, while senior Conner Keith finished with 11 points.

Olpe out-rebounded the Ringnecks, 39-19.
