RUSSELL — The TMP girls track and field team took second place on Thursday in the Russell Invitational while the boys team placed fifth.

Adell Riedel captured a win in the 800-meter run with Julia Werth finishing sixth in the event. Riedel also took top honors in the 1,600-meter run, with Werth fourth. The Monarchs’ 3,200-meter relay also grabbed a win, tying for first place with Beloit in 10 minutes, 34.62 seconds. The Monarchs’ 1,600-meter relay also grabbed gold, finishing in 4:20.98.

TMP’s Jenna Rome took top honors in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, while teammates Savannah Yost and Makinsey Schlautman were tied among second-place finishers at 4-10.

Paris Wolf finished second in the triple jump at 34-3.

The TMP boys got a first-place showing from Ethan Lang in the 800-meter run. Lang finished in 2:06.38 for the gold.

Plainville, the defending Class 2A state champion, was third on the boys’ side with 67.34 points, while the Planville girls also were third with 65.
