(TNS) — Kansas baseball coach Ritch Price secured a milestone victory on Sunday during the Jayhawks’ 17-3 home win over No. 5 Texas Tech.

Price, who is in his 16th season at KU, picked up Division I victory No. 700. He is one of 16 active Power Five coaches to reach that mark.

“It was a great win that our team needed really badly,” Price said. “I am more excited about that win over Texas Tech than I am about No. 700. It’s a great team win for the Jayhawks.”

KU, which was outscored 25-6 in the first two games of the series, posted its highest run total in a Big 12 game since 2010.

Before coming to Lawrence, Price spent eight seasons at Cal Poly, where he had 217 victories. His 483 wins at KU are the most ever by a Jayhawks baseball coach.

With Sunday’s result, KU improved to 18-13 overall and 3-6 in conference play.
