HUTCHINSON — Playing at Par 71 Carey Park, the Hays High School boys’ golf team captured a seventh-place showing Friday in the 35-team Hutchinson Invitational.
The Indians shot a 311, 12 shots back of third place and 31 shots back of team champion Salina-Sacred Heart.
The Indians had two golfers finish in the top 23 as Tradgon McCrae fire da 2-over 73 to finish in 15th place. Sacred Heart took three of the top four individual medals with Grant Harrenbruck taking top honors with a 68. Allen Zollinger fired a 75 to finish in 23rd place, while Peyton Kieffer’s 79 and Josh Norris’ 85 rounded out Hays High’s team score.
Keaton Schlaefli finished at 87 while Erik Kreutzer came in at 101.
All four of Sacred Heart’s scorers finished in the top 11. The Knights bettered runner-up Blue Valley North by 11 shots.
Hays High’s varsity heads to Great Bend on Monday for a 3 p.m. tee.
