COLBY — The Hays High School boys’ basketball team led big early in the first quarter and never looked back in a 79-50 victory against Goodland in the consolation semifinals of the Orange & Black Classic on Friday.
The Indians, after leading 38-21 at halftime, built up a 20-point lead in the third quarter. Hays High (5-4) is set to face Christian Heritage on Saturday’s 2 p.m. fourth-place game at Colby High School.
Tradgon McCrae led the way with 15 points for Hays High, while TJ Nunnery and Tucker Johnson each scored 11. Goodland got 14 points from Brennan Brumbaugh in the loss. The sophomore hit four 3-pointers, one in each quarter.
