COLBY — The Hays High School boys’ basketball team got off to a fast start and never trailed Saturday, placing fourth in the Orange & Black Classic with an 83-53 win against Heritage Christian (Okla.).

The Indians’ 83 was a season-high as three players finished in double digits and nine players entered the scoring column. TJ Nunnery tied for the lead with 16 points (a career high), hitting three 3-pointers. Tradgon McCrae also scored 16 with four 3s. Carson Kieffer added 10 to the cause with Cade Swayne and Trey Adams each chipping in nine.

The Indians led 27-15 after the first quarter and 43-32 at halftime in the blowout victory.

The win pushes the Indians to 6-4 for the year as they will take on Salina Central on Friday at home.
