FHSU soccer starts No. 23

The Fort Hays State University men's soccer team, coming off back-to-back NCAA Division II playoff appearances, will begin the season No. 23 in the nation. FHSU finished No. 23 in the final poll a season ago.

The Tigers were one of two teams from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association -- along with Lindenwood at No. 7 -- to be named int the National Soccer Coaches Association of America top 25.

The Tigers finished 12-5-3 last season, and were 6-1-2 in MIAA play. The season begins with exhibition action at 7 p.m., Aug. 17, against Dodge City Community College at FHSU Soccer Stadium. The Tigers' first regular-season action is the Days Inn Soccer Classic at FHSU Soccer Stadium against Colorado State University-Pueblo at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 5, and against Drury University at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 7.
