The Hays High School girls' soccer team placed three players on the Western Athletic Conference first team, with three more being named honorable mention.
The Indians were led by WAC player of the year Reagan Kaiser, her second straight POY honor. The senior defender, a Rockhurst University signee, was the heart of the 13-4-1 Indians, which allowed only two goals at home all season (7-1 with seven shutouts), both goals coming against Goddard-Eisenhower in a 2-1 overtime loss in the regional championship game.
Joining Kaiser on the first team was senior midfielder Lacey Pfannenstiel, a Bethel College signee, and junior midfielder Brooke Russell.
Freshman forwards Talyn Kleweno, who led the team with eight goals, and Tressa Becker, second on the team with seven goals, were on the honorable mention team, alongside sophomore defender Lieacha Cook.
Hays High coach Saul Hernandez, in his first season as head coach of the Indians, was named WAC coach of the year.
