HHS swimming competes at Manhattan

MANHATTAN -- The Hays High School boys' swim team took fifth out of 17 teams at the Manhattan Invitational on Saturday, adding two more to its state qualifiers.
Morgan Mathews qualified in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1 minute, 2.84 seconds, taking sixth in Saturday's event. Tommy Consiglio also punched his ticket to state in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1 minute, 58.33 seconds to finish third.
The Indians finished with 149 points. Maize won the invitational with 409 points, followed by Manhattan's 292, Maze South's 231 and Emporia's 171.5.
Saturday's invitational concluded the Indians' regular season schedule. They will next compete at state beginning Feb. 21 in Topeka.
