Indian track competes at Valley Center

VALLEY CENTER -- The Hays High School boys' track and field team took second place in the 12-team field at the Valley Center High School Invitational on Wednesday. The girls' team finished in seventh place. The invite was originally scheduled for Thursday but was moved ahead a day due to forecasted weather.
Notable finishers for the Hays High boys included Alex Delton, who won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.13 seconds, and Jordan Windholz's first-place jump of 45 feet, 8.75 inches in the triple jump.
The boys' 400-meter relay team also took first place with a time of 43.40 seconds.
Jordan Mayfield took second place in the long jump for Hays High, with a jump of 21-0. Hayden Kreutzer finished second in the pole vault with a season-high height of 13-6 and Aaron Voss second in the high jump with a height of 6-4.
Delton also took second place in the 200-meter dash in 22.79 seconds, followed by Clayton Riedel's third-place time of 23.02 seconds.
On the girls' side, Mattison Schlaefli won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.47 seconds and finished third in the javelin with a throw of 114-5. Haley George took second in the high jump with a height of 5-4.
Bishop Carroll won the boys' side with 155.5 points, followed by Hays High's 128 points. The HHS girls' finished with 51.66 points, while Andale's 128 points took first place.
