Area players compete in all-star game

SALINA -- Three area players competed in the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association All-Star games on Saturday, held at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina.
In the boys' game, the White All-Stars defeated the Blue All-Stars, 105-97. Ashland High School's Grant Meininger led all players with 20 points for the White team. Hoxie's Kade Spresser finished with seven points, while Spresser's cousin, Plainville's Hadley Gillum, scored 11 points for the Blue team. Spresser and Gillum both signed to play basketball at Fort Hays State University this fall.
Concordia's Grant Holmes, another FHSU signee, scored two points for the Blue team.
In the girls' game, the Blue All-Stars defeated the White All-Stars, 82-75, behind 14 points from St. Thomas Aquinas' Tia Weledji, a Princeton University signee.
Bucklin's Morgan Hood, a FHSU signee, scored three points for the Blue team. Hoxie's Kristina Farber, headed to Cloud County Community College, also played for the White team, but was held without a point.
