LAWRENCE (MCT) -- It appears that Kansas coach Bill Self is still actively recruiting for his 2014 class.

Power forward Ray Kasongo, a former Oregon signee, is slated to visit Kansas later this week, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman. The visit is tentatively scheduled for Friday.

Kasongo signed with Oregon last November but was denied admission to the school, according to the Oregonian newspaper. That left Kasongo scrambling for another place to play.

A 6-foot-9 forward, Kasongo grew up in the Toronto area before attending multiple high schools in the United States. Last season, he played basketball at Phase One Academy in Phoenix. After failing to qualify at Oregon, Kasongo was also reportedly considering Memphis and Cal.

Kansas has recent experience with Canadian players, with Toronto-area native Andrew Wiggins playing his freshman season at Kansas before becoming the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft in June. Wiggins, coincidentally, is scheduled to be back in the Kansas City area on Saturday and Sunday to run a youth basketball camp with Self.

Self has one vacant scholarship to offer; the Jayhawks previously signed a four-man freshman class that includes power forward Cliff Alexander, swingman Kelly Oubre Jr., point guard Devonte Graham and Ukrainian product Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, who is scheduled to arrive on campus in early September.
