DALLAS (MCT) -- Former Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein is an official member of the Wildcats' coaching staff.

He will work for Bill Snyder under the title of assistant director of recruiting/defensive quality control, according to K-State's media guide, which was released Monday at Big 12 media days.

Klein said last month that he had agreed to return to his alma mater as an assistant coach, but neither he nor Snyder had announced his exact role on the staff. It appears his duties will be wide ranging.

Klein is one of the best quarterbacks in K-State history. He led the Wildcats to a 21-5 record over his final two seasons as a full-time starter, winning a Big 12 championship in 2012.

He has spent the past two years attempting to play quarterback at the professional level. He came close straight out of school, joining the Houston Texans as an unsigned free agent. But he failed to secure a roster spot. More recently, he signed with the Montreal Alouttes of the Canadian Football League. Once again, though, he did not make the team's opening day roster.
