WICHITA -- The Thomas More Prep-Marian girls' soccer season came to an end on Tuesday with a 2-0 loss at Wichita Trinity in the Class 4-1A state quarterfinals in Wichita.
The teams played to a 0-0 halftime score before Trinity got two goals in a three-minute span of the second half. Madison Clinton scored the first in the 48th minute, followed by a second goal in the 50th minute by Allyson Henderson.
Trinity (15-3-1) finished the regular season ranked No. 1 in 4-1A in the KSCA poll and is the top seed heading into state on Friday.
"It was a good game. We didn't really have any attacks. We didn't set anything up. Our defense held us in the game as long as they did," TMP coach Darryl Wellbrock said. "They dominated possession both halves, but our defense was really on today. They got a workout. We didn't have a whole lot of attacks on goal."
TMP finishes its record-setting year with an 8-3-2 record after advancing to the state quarterfinals for the first time in program history.
