Candidates expected to FHSU forum
Special to The Hays Daily News
With elections just around the corner, Hays residents are preparing themselves for the polls.
American Democracy Project is hoping to make that preparation easier by hosting a political forum at 6 p.m. Oct. 15, featuring candidates for several elections that affect both Ellis County and the state. Candidates featured will be running for state representative for both 110th and 111th district, county commissioner for 2nd and 3rd district and Kansas Senate for 40th district.
Moderated by Chapman Rackaway, instructor in the Department of Political Science, questions will be coming from both Student Government Association and the audience at large. Questions from the public can be submitted prior to the forum on the ADP Twitter page using the hashtag #ecf2012 and the evening of the forum though the ADP Facebook page at facebook.com/adpfhsu. All questions will be monitored prior to reaching the candidates.
"To be an active voter, you need to actually know what your candidates stand for and make an informed decision on Election Day," said Anne Drees, student coordinator for ADP.
The forum is open to the public and will take place in the Black and Gold Room of the Memorial Union on the Fort Hays State University campus.
