Kitty Piddle and Dog Drool will make Sunday's Humane Society of the High Plains 16th annual Soup 'R Bowl pretty sweet.
Kitty Piddle and Dog Drool will be available to attendees after a goodwill donation is made.
The soda, created by New Britain, Conn.-based Avery's Beverages, is part of the company's "Totally Gross Sodas" line.
"The Kitty Piddle pop is orange pineapple and the Dog Drool is orange lemon flavored," said Marilyn Marshall, a member of the board of directors of the Humane Society of the High Plains.
The idea of including the refreshments was introduced by Marshall after the holiday season.
"I was given a bottle of Kitty Piddle for Christmas from a cousin who had been in Connecticut and had seen this pop," Marshall said.
All money raised through the pop donations will help fund the animal shelter, and other Soup R' Bowl proceeds will help fund animal care, medication and other staples.
"The money from this pop is going to the Morris Fund to spay and neuter at the shelter to make them more adoptable," she said.
Marshall said a fan of MOrris, an orange marmalade tiger striped cat, purchased the drinks from Avery's.
"Morris has a bit of a following because he is a 27-year-old cat," she said. "He lives at the shelter; he's been there close to 20 years."
Marshall said the event is the society's largest fundraiser.
Tickets to the event are $5, with children younger than 5 admitted free.
Those who attend will be given a sample soup cup and be able to vote on their favorite after taste-testing the bill of fare.
Cookbook also will be available for $5.
The Soup 'R Bowl is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Schenk Building at the Ellis County Fairgrounds.
Tickets are available at the Humane Society, Hays Veterinary Hospital and Back to Nature.
