When most people think of tap dancing, Broadway and musicals flash through their mind.
With Fort Hays University's Encore Series under way, Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center is gearing up for its second performance, Tap: The Show.
Tap: The Show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and is a more traditional performance when compared to the first of FHSU Encore Series.
Edie McCracken, director of Memorial Union and Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center coordinator, said the first performance, "Mystery Hour Tour," was more of a comedic or avant-garde show, but Tap: The Show is a step in the traditional direction.
McCracken said the performance not only will feature traditional tap, but also flamenco elements, Irish step, soft shoe and many additional varieties of tap dancing.
She said there still are tickets available for the performance, which will be sold until the show begins.
McCracken also said there are season tickets available until the end of business day Wednesday.
Single show tickets for the general public are $30 for reserved, $26 for unreserved. The prices for seniors, aged 65 and older and for children between the ages of 5 to 17 are $28 reserved and $24 unreserved, while it is $21 for reserved and $17 for unreserved FHSU students.
