Baby Jay to attend library party
By The Hays Daily News
Children participating in the 2012 finale of the summer reading program at the Hays Public Library will get a chance to rub elbows with the likes of Baby Jay -- one of the mascots from the University of Kansas -- a human Lego and Chili the Penguin, the library's mascot.
The event, open to students in fifth grade and below, is set for noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday on the second floor of the library, 1205 Main.
Participants will be treated to hot dogs and drinks, and those from kindergarten through third grade who met qualifications for the summer reading program will receive a prize. Brandon Hines, youth service librarian, said participants can still log books online until midnight today to be eligible for prizes.
The K-3 division was required to read 10 books for the summer program, which began on May 24.
