Ness County girl killed in possible accidental shooting

BAZINE -- The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has confirmed a child was shot and killed Friday evening in what appears to have been an accidental shooting.
The KBI continues to investigate. An autopsy is being done today, said Bruce Mellor, special agent with the KBI. He believes the shooting, in Bazine appears to have been an accident. No arrests have been made.
"After the autopsy, there will be more information," Mellor said.
The victim was a girl. However, Mellor declined to give the age or name of the victim, or the person who accidentally shot her. More information will be available Monday.
Bazine is a small town of less than 300 people, located 12 miles east of Ness City, on Kansas Highway 96.
