Soroptimists invite nominations
Soroptimist International of Hays is seeking nominations for the Women's Opportunity Award, Violet Richardson Award and Ruby Award presented annually by the organization.
The Women's Opportunity Award program is a $1,000 cash grant for a head-of-household woman seeking to improve her life through additional education or training. This program provides women with a cash grant to offset costs associated with efforts to attain higher education and additional skills training.
The club-level recipient is eligible for additional awards at other levels within the organization. Soroptimist grants three $10,000 finalist awards each year.
The Violet Richardson Award honors a young woman, between the ages of 14 and 17, who makes the community and world a better place through her volunteer efforts and leadership.
The VRA club-level winner is recognized with a $500 monetary award and becomes eligible for one of 28 $1,000 awards at the regional Soroptimist level.
The Ruby Award honors women, who through their professional or personal efforts, make extraordinary differences in the lives of women and girls. Honorees are women who have worked to improve the lives of other women or girls. Women can nominate themselves or another woman they believe is deserving of the honor. The winner of the club-level award will receive a $500 monetary donation to a charitable organization of her choice.
Application deadline for all three awards is Dec. 15. To request an application or for more information, contact Linda Becker at (785) -625-8858 or email@example.com. Soroptimist International of Hays will evaluate all applications and select one recipient per award.
