A Wednesday incident involving a gun ended when Hays Police tackled a man in an apartment complex, ending a 3.5-hour standoff.
Hays Police Chief Don Scheibler said the man apparently got involved in a scuffle with a family member, pointing a rifle at him. The incident occurred in the 400 block of West Fourth, not far from the Hays Area Children's Center.
Police were notified at about 3:30 p.m., and called out its Special Situations and Response Team.
No shots were fired, but Scheibler said a flash grenade was used in the front yard of the apartment to distract the person so police could subdue him.
A member of the SSRT was hurt slightly after cutting his hand on a broken window.
