Betty J. Kats

Betty J. Kats, 87, Phillipsburg, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at Craig Methodist Retirement Community, Amarillo, Texas.

She was born May 7, 1920, in Lansing, Mich., to Alfred G. and Edna Mae (Watson) Seyfried.

She married Sam Kats on Nov. 26, 1943, in Riverside, Calif. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son, Dennis Kats, Laramie, Wyo.; two daughters, Karen Kennedy, Amarillo, Texas, and Margaret Jeffers, Templeton, Calif.; a sister, Barbara McLean, Ludington, Mich.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Luctor Christian Reformed Church, Phillips County; burial in Luctor Cemetery, Phillips County.

Casket will remain closed.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, with family present from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., both at Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.

Memorials are suggested to the church or Hospice services in care of the chapel.
