Emery Hamel

Emery Hamel

Emery Hamel, 86, Hill City, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, at Graham County Hospital, Hill City.

He was born Feb. 9, 1921, in rural Damar to Alex and Elsie (Thibault) Hamel.

He married Antionette Albia Benoit on April, 7, 1947, in Damar. He was a farmer.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Rick Hamel, Ellis, and Jan Hamel, Sand Springs, Okla.; three daughters, Julie Lockhart, Garfield, Ark., Jeaneta Vogel, Glendale, Ariz., and Donna Goff, Junction City; three brothers, Louis Hamel, Hurricane, Utah, Jasper Hamel, Hays, and Wilfred Hamel, Plainville; two sisters, Lucille Thomie, Bettendorf, Iowa, and Ida Mae LeSage, Hays; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Randy.

Services were Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Damar; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Damar.

Memorials are suggested to Masses or the church in care of Stinemetz Funeral Home, Hill City.
