Police arrested a Hutchinson man on suspicion of aggravated battery early Friday morning after he allegedly struck a woman with the side of a machete during a disturbance.

William J. Espinosa, 35, of 818 E. Ave. A, was arrested about 1:20 a.m., and booked on the single count. He was released after posting $5,000 bond.

Police responded to the residence after someone called 911 to report a woman screaming. The woman suffered injuries consistent with a beating, according to police, including a black eye. Though allegedly struck with the machete, she was not cut. Officers recovered the machete in the home.
