TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) -- A group of Kansas legislators is drafting a new bill requiring more information from doctors who perform late-term abortions.

House and Senate negotiators were meeting Thursday to discuss the legislation.

Anti-abortion lawmakers want to require doctors to disclose the exact medical diagnosis justifying a late-term abortion in their reports to the state.

Kansas law allows abortion of a viable fetus after the 21st week of pregnancy only to save a woman's life or to prevent permanent and major damage to her health.

The tougher reporting provisions were included last year in a broader bill vetoed by then-Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, who questioned whether it was constitutional.
