TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) -- About 300 people are expected in Topeka on Thursday for the Kansas Mental Health Coalition's Mental Health Advocacy Day.

Following morning briefings at Memorial Hall, participants will visit the Statehouse to talk to lawmakers.

Those taking part will include advocates for the mentally ill, as well as people who've been treated for mental illness and their families.

The coalition is concerned about budget issues, such as a 10 percent cut in reimbursements to health care providers under the Medicaid program.

Members also want to lobby for a proposed amendment to the Kansas Constitution to protect the voting rights of the mentally ill.
