OTTAWA, Kan. (AP) -- Ottawa police say they are investigating the northeast Kansas town's first homicide of the year.

Police say 24-year-old Paul Duane Nicholson was found fatally stabbed Wednesday night.

Officers say Nicholson collapsed between two houses while going for help. Several witnesses were in the area when Nicholson was stabbed, but no arrests have been made.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation are helping with the investigation.
