POTWIN, Kan. (AP) -- Law enforcement authorities say a Kansas man is hospitalized after his wife shot him in an apparent accident.

The Butler County Sheriff's Office says the 49-year-old Potwin man was shot in the shoulder Sunday evening at his home.

Undersheriff Tony Wilhite says the man's 31-year-old wife and a neighbor both called 911 to report the shooting. The woman was giving her husband first aid when emergency workers arrived at the house. The man was flown to a Wichita hospital.

Authorities say he was able to provide a statement to authorities, which confirmed his wife's report that the shooting was an accident.

The incident is still under investigation. No names have been released.

Four children at the home at the time of the shooting were not hurt.
