WICHITA, Kan. (AP) -- Wichita State University has chosen a new dean for its College of Engineering.

The university on Tuesday announced the hiring of Royce Bowden, effective Jan. 14. Bowden has been associate dean for academic affairs at Mississippi State University's Bagley College of Engineering since 2011.

Bowden had previously served as head of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Mississippi State from 2005 to 2011. He has also worked as a professor in its engineering department since 2002.

Wichita State touted Bowden's success at generating resources for his engineering department and for growing its enrollment.
