Kan. regulators to discuss racetracks

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) -- The future of two pari-mutuel racetracks could be at stake when the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission meets Wednesday.
The Woodlands horse and dog track in Kansas City, Kan., and Camptown Greyhound Park in Frontenac are both closed. Officials of both tracks say their futures depend on the amount of revenue they can claim from slot machines. Those percentages are set by Kansas law.
Deadlines have been set for revoking the two tracks' operating licenses. A spokesman for the Racing and Gaming Commission said extending the deadlines could come up at Wednesday's meeting.
Woodlands and Camptown officials want the deadlines extended while they urge the Legislature to change the law on slot machine revenues.
