The Thomas More Prep-Marian girlsí soccer team finished the year 11-4-1 and participated in the 4-1A state tournament. Following the season, five Monarchs earned all-state honors.

Goalkeeper Deonna Wellbrock was named a first-team all-state goalkeeper for the second time after a junior season where she helped TMP record eight shutouts. The Monarch goalie made 34 saves in the teamís 15 games this spring. She was also named a first-teamer as a freshman.

When she was pulled from goal due to injury, Wellbrock contributed two goals and an assist for the Monarch attack.

Joining Wellbrock on the first team was senior Bailey Hageman. Hageman closed her prep career with an 18-goal season, a new program record. She also set the TMP career record with 42 goals in just three years on the soccer team.

Hageman was a multiple-time all-state selection.

Three other Monarchs were named to the second team.

Senior center back Tyra Younie was a big part of the TMP defense that protected Wellbrock.

She was a three-time captain and helped pitch 24 shutouts in her four years on the TMP back line. She scored a pair of goals in her final year before continuing her soccer career at Allen Community College this fall.

Midfielder Racheal Hamel, another one of this yearís captains, was a mainstay in the middle of the field for the Monarchs. She assisted two goals and scored three of her own, most of which came from outside the box.

The four-year starter for the Monarchs will continue her playing career at Bethel College this fall.

Central midfielder Megan Koenigsman was the fifth member of the Monarchs to garner all-state accolades. She was one of TMPís top scorers, tallying five goals and eight assists in her third year as a starter.

Koenigsman and Wellbrock will look to lead the Monarchs back to the state tournament next spring.
