Virginia M. Clotfelter, 93, Hays, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at Via Christi Village in Hays.

She was born July 10, 1922, northwest of Ellis, to George and Barbara (Ruder) Bittel. After raising her family, she received her bachelorís degree in education and masterís degree in guidance and counseling, all from Fort Hays State University.

She married Quentin K. Clotfelter on Aug. 26, 1946, in Wichita. He preceded her in death April 6, 1969. She was an Emergency Therapist and then the Program Manager for the inpatient unit four north at High Plains Mental Health Center, until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays.

She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and animals.

Survivors include three daughters, Bonnie Schlickting and husband, Russ, Tucson, Ariz., Susan Strecker and husband, Rick, Hays, and Lian Blair and husband, Tim, Sante Fe, N.M.; a former daughter-in-law, Cid Washburn, Wichita; seven grandchildren, Kris Wise, Jon Clotfelter, Holly Esau, Scott Schlickting, Mandie Paschal, Kelly Strecker and Kit Strecker; 13 great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Cort Clotfelter; nine brothers and sisters.

Private family services will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church; a private family burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Ellis.
