Cyrill Paul Herrman, 85, Hays, died Sunday, May 28, 2017, at Via Christi Village, Hays.

He was born Aug. 10, 1931, in Loretta to Reinhold A. and Josephine (Kuhn) Herrman.

He married Berniece Marshall on June 9, 1973, in Las Vegas. She preceded him in death. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after a distinguished career that included serving in Vietnam. After his retirement from the military he started a second career for the State of Kansas Civil Service working as a juvenile detention counselor.

He was an avid Kansas City Royals and Chiefs fan.

Survivors include three sons, Dale Herrman, Colorado Springs, Colo., Kelly Barra, Kincheloe, Mich., and Kevin Herrman, Detroit; a daughter, Carol Sue Welsh, Fairfield, Calif.; three brothers, Les and Roy Herrman, Hays, and Leon Herrman, Colorado Springs; three sisters, Carol Danielson and Linda Mayberry, both of Great Bend and Doris Winslow, Hays; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents;four brothers, Elmer, Frank, Donald and JR Herrman; and a sister, Edna Rohr.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Antonino; burial in the church cemetery with military honors courtesy of the Hays Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.

A combined rosary/vigil will be at 7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Memorials are suggested to the Thomas More Prep-Marian High School Scholarship Fund.
